We are pleased to announce that the British Columbia General Employees’ Union Local 702 (BCGEU Local 702) and Vancouver Island University (VIU) have reached a tentative collective agreement for the period of April 1, 2022 – March 31, 2025. The tentative agreement covers approximately 157 BCGEU employees at VIU.
Both BCGEU Local 702 and VIU are appreciative of commitment and hard work of both bargaining teams. The tentative agreement reflects a collaborative approach that will assist in supporting BCGEU employees, students and the University now and in the future.
This tentative agreement aligns with the provincial government’s 2022 Shared Recovery Mandate and VIU’s People Plan commitments to wellness and equity. BCGEU and VIU will now initiate their respective ratification processes and we will share more details about the agreement when ratification is complete.
