Clerical Casual

Bus Drivers

If you are interested in being considered for casual employment as a bus driver, please email your resume directly to the HR Office.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed Driver Responsibility Form (authorized by your manager prior to your permit being processed)
  • Class 4 (unrestricted) BC Driver’s License
  • Current copy of driving abstract from ICBC
  • Current resume 

Building Maintenance and Labour

Please email the Facilities department to submit a resume or for information on casual labourers; casual building maintenance workers; casual grounds crews. A request for snow/ice removal workers is posted annually.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be physically fit, as work requires the performance of duties resulting in physical fatigue caused by almost continuous moderate physical activity and intermittent periods of heavy physical activity
  • Job requires frequent exposure to major undesirable and disagreeable conditions as outdoor tasks may be completed in severe weather 
  • Safety footwear (CSA Standard) required
  • Suitable personal clothing and accessories must be supplied as necessary for the duties and weather conditions
  • Must be willing to be called-out to work on short notice any time during the night or early morning

Campus Store

The campus store maintains a casual list for cashiers for rush periods. Please submit your resume directly to the Campus Store Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus additional courses in sales, customer service, and /or merchandising and display
  • One to three years recent related retail experience, including selling, product displays, merchandising and cashiering
  • Demonstrated superior front-line service and sales skills
  • Fast and accurate cashier skills using a computerized POS system and business math skills
  • Intermediate level word processing proficiency
  • Proficient computer skills including spreadsheets
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, service oriented retail sales environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • This position requires some physical labour including standing for five to seven hours and the ability to move boxes or carts

Cafeteria

The cafeteria maintains a casual list for Food Service workers. Please submit your resume directly to manager, Melissa Townsend.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or some high school plus additional training of less than one year
  • Customer service or sales training
  • One to three years of directly related recent experience including serving or bartending, plus cashiering on a computerized POS System
  • Demonstrated excellent front-line customer service and sales skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume food service environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle volume fluctuations daily and annually
  • Ability to stand for five to seven hours daily and to lift and move boxes, carts and trays
  • FoodSafe Level I and Serving It Right

The cafeteria maintains a casual list for Campus Catering workers. Please submit your resume directly to manager, Melissa Townsend.

Campus Catering

Required Qualifications

  • Grade 12 graduation as well as FoodSafe and Serving It Right Certification
  • Three years’ experience in customer service, with 6-12 months catering, serving and bartending experience
  • Minimum six months experience in cashier skills on a computerized POS System
  • The incumbent must have proven effective written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational skills
  • Have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume food service environment
  • The incumbent must be able to stand for five to seven hours daily and to lift up to 25 pounds

Preferred: a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and have a confirmed satisfactory record
