Collective Bargaining Update
VIU and BCGEU
VIU and BCGEU commenced bargaining on May 27, 2026. The parties have held 11 bargaining sessions, including the week of October 13.
The parties have made significant progress, with multiple full packages with monetary and non-monetary items exchanged by both parties. The parties have scheduled further bargaining for November, 2026.
VIU and CUPE
VIU has been advised by CUPE that bargaining may not commence until early 2027.
VIU and VIUFA
The parties commenced bargaining on November 14, 2025. The parties have held 32 bargaining sessions between November 14, 2025 and August 2026.
VIU tabled its first full package with monetary and non-monetary items on May 4, 2026. VIUFA tabled its first full package with monetary and non-monetary items on June 5, 2026. VIU tabled a revised full package on August 18, 2026. Further bargaining dates have not yet been established.
