Duties: Research, develop and implement programs, activities and procedures that encourage and support student transition, personal growth, success and retention. Oversight of the residence judicial process, including the development and enforcement of Community Standards. Recruitment, training and supervision of Resident Advisor team. Supervision of the Residence Life Coordinator. Liaise with campus and community partners to support and enhance the student experience. Assist in the daily administrative operations of VIU Student Residence, including management of CUPE employees.

Representation on committees such as, The Student of Concern Advisory Team, Threat Assessment Team, Mental Health and Well Being Task Force, Healthy U, Suicide Prevention and Intervention, Alcohol Awareness, New Student Orientation, and the Positive Space Steering Committee. Share on-call responsibility for emergencies and student crises.
 
Required Qualifications: Bachelors' degree, or equivalent, in event management, education or related discipline, from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum three years' related work experience in residence life or student affairs. ASIST Suicide Intervention certification, Violence Risk Threat Assessment certification, Tactical Communication certification. A combination of experience and education in related field may be considered.

Ability to demonstrate understanding of student development theory, student cycle, behaviour management, leadership or community development.
