Faculty of Social Sciences representative (by-election)
Please be advised that no nominations were received for the opportunity to serve as the Faculty of Social Sciences representative to Senate’s Curriculum Committee.
Nominations are to be submitted by email to the Office of the Registrar via elections@viu.ca.
The Curriculum Committee normally meets on the second Monday of the month, starting at approximately 4 pm. For more information, see the Terms of Reference.

Faculty of Social Sciences representative (by-election)
This is the first call for nominations.
Nominations are to be submitted by email to the Office of the Registrar via elections@viu.ca.
The Educational Standards Committee normally meets on the second Tuesday of the month, starting at approximately 4 pm. For more information, see the Terms of Reference.
Eligibility
- Support staff holding a regular (not temporary) appointment are eligible to be elected only to the support staff position on Senate or Standing Committees.
- Faculty members within BCGEU or VIUFA holding a regular (not temporary) appointment are eligible to be elected only to the faculty position on Senate or Standing Committees.
- Vancouver Island University (VIU) students who hold temporary or part-time, regularized, faculty or staff positions at VIU are not eligible to be elected to the faculty or staff positions on Senate or Standing Committees.
Per the University Act:
"Faculty member" means a person employed by a university as an instructor, lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, professor, or in an equivalent position designated by the Senate.
"Support staff" means employees of the special purpose, teaching university who are not (a) officers of the special purpose, teaching university, or (b) deans or faculty members.
- Support staff members holding a regular appointment at the time of the election are eligible to vote for the support staff member position on Senate or Standing Committees.
- Faculty members holding a regular appointment at the time of the election are eligible to vote for the faculty positions on Senate or Standing Committees.

Voting emails will be sent from elections@viu.ca to eligible voters only. From this email, you will be directed to an anonymous, secure online ballot specific to your constituency. The ballot emailed to you is your confidential, non-transferable ballot. You may only vote once.

Candidates for an election that has proceeded to the voting period are encouraged to submit a platform statement. Only those employees who are candidates for election will be able to submit a statement.
To submit a statement, please email a one-page, 150-400 word, PDF file to elections@viu.ca. Your candidate statement should be posted to the elections website within two business days.
