Transcript of Naming Convention Video 

This video will show you the Information Systems VIU has chosen as a result of Project AURORA. For 
details on the project you can go to the VIU website at viu.ca and type "Project AURORA" into the search 
box. 

As of Fall 2020 this is the current cloud-based system structure at VIU. This is the house that holds the 
main system chosen and built as a result of Project AURORA. 

Formerly known as UBW, this whole platform has been renamed Unit4 ERP by the vendor: Unit4. This 
product is what you access when you click on the link to the Employee Portal on the VIU Employees 
page or from the Training page at aurora.viu.ca 

Next, we have the Base HR and Payroll modules which live within the ERP structure and VIU calls these 
modules collectively, the "HRIS" or Human Resource Information System. 

Back in January of 2019, VIU launched our new Unit4 Recruitment module called Recruit by VIU. It is 
currently being connected to the data in HRIS to streamline the process of hiring and reporting. 

Launching in April 2021 are the Finance modules by Unit4 which will also live in the ERP structure and 
VIU collectively calls these modules the "FIS" or Financial Information System. 

Down the road we will incorporate a new and comprehensive Student Information System or SIS as it 
will be called. It will be connected to the existing HRIS and FIS systems that are in the ERP. 

That is in VIU’s future. 

For now we continue to use the existing SRS or Student Records System.
